A look at Lucy
Our little Lucy is adorable and sweet! She reminds me of Emma as a baby and she has her Grandma Eiko's dimples. Here are a few pictures to tide you over until I get another chance :).

Lucy is Here!
Hey all... it's Rick again.
Just wanted to give Heidi's blog followers the official word.
Lucy Aiko Sunshine Horio was born on 10/23/09 at 2:24pm. She came in at 6lbs 5oz and 18 inches long. Aiko (pronounced EYE-ko, not AY-ko) means "Love" in Japanese. Sunshine is from my longing to have been a hippie.
Photos will come later. I'm going to try and sleep, now that Lucy is sleeping.
By the way, she has the most amazing dimple on her right cheek.

It's Go Time
For the first time ever, this is Rick posting on Heidi's blog.
Heidi's water broke a little over 2 hours ago, and we have been admitted to the hospital. Just a matter of hours before we are a party of five.

Happy 5th Birthday Emma!
A stroll down memory lane:
3 years old
The years have flown by! My baby is 5 years old today. My sweet daughter and a great big sister! I have seen Emma grow tremendously this year. I don't think I could even put it all into words right now but some things that stand out in my mind right now are:Emma is not a risk taker but has ventured out this year on a few. Emma became a very self-motivated reader this year. Emma's social skills have blossomed and she now has affection for other adults other than her parents and grandparents. Toys/activities of choice are drawing, legos, swings and sandbox, crafts and games. It is fun to play games with her now because she understands how to play. We play UNO, Mancala, Chinese Checkers, Chutes N Ladders, War (card game), Scrabble Junior and Candy Land. And last for now, Emma has become a eager helper to me. She is a great blessing to us! We are thankful to God for her.

Lunch with Great Aunt Diane
The girls and I invited my Aunt Diane over for lunch last Friday and we had a lovely time! My crafty Aunt came prepared! She brought an adorable spider craft for the girls to do. They painted a cut out egg carton and put black pipe cleaners as legs and then taped it to one of those battery operated tea lights. She had punched holes in the carton for eyes so that the light could shine through!
And then she brought out "dessert". She gave each of the girls an orange to play with. They had to roll them around and squeeze them a bit to get the inside membranes to break a little. Then she cut a hole in the skin and inserted a cherry candy stick for them to suck the orange juice through. My aunt did this as a kid and the sticks are made so that the inside is porous and so after a minute you can taste the orange juice through sucking on the cherry stick. A cool idea but somehow I could not get the orange juice to come through. The girls didn't care though, they ate the cherry sticks and used regular straws to get the o.j. out. :)

And last, my aunt read books to the girls where they took turns wearing a tiara she had brought. Whoever was wearing the tiara got to be the page turner. Very cute. So thank you Aunt Diane for a creative and fun afternoon!
